張小嫻，祖籍廣東開平，畢業(yè)于香港浸會學(xué)院傳理系。95年推出第一部長篇小說《面包樹上的女人》而走紅文壇，是繼亦舒之后，香港最受歡迎的言情小說家。
1985大學(xué)時(shí)代邊工邊讀，在香港無線電視臺任當(dāng)編劇，5年之后轉(zhuǎn)工去亞洲電視，1993年偶然為編劇協(xié)會替《明報(bào)》撰寫兩則專欄，得到賞識，開始在《明報(bào)》先以《嫻言嫻語》后用《貼心感覺》開專欄，1994年第一部小說《面包樹上的女人》在《明報(bào)》上連載，一炮而紅，1995年結(jié)束10年編劇生涯正式成為專職作家，1995年6月在《蘋果日報(bào)》開專欄“禁果之味”，隨后加盟皇冠出版社，并于當(dāng)年出版《三個(gè)ACup的女人》，成功地打動了港臺讀者。1997年5月，她出版的《荷包里的單人床》一書，除打進(jìn)香港暢銷書排行榜首之外，還持久走紅新加坡及馬來西亞。之后，她的《再見野鼬鼠》、《不如，你送我一場春雨》、《三月里的幸福餅》及《漢仔夫婦》系列作品相繼問世，銷量數(shù)以十萬計(jì)，張小嫻風(fēng)頭席卷全球華文地區(qū)，直逼國際出版市場。1998年她創(chuàng)辦了香港第一本本土女性雜志《AMY》，任總編輯至今，現(xiàn)為香港皇冠出版社簽約作家，為《經(jīng)濟(jì)日報(bào)》撰寫專欄，是香港著名的暢銷言情小說家。
