　　授予動詞

　　此類動詞為及物動詞的一種，需接兩個賓語。第一個賓語叫間接賓語(indirect object簡稱i.o.)表授予的對象;第二個賓語叫直接賓語(direct object簡稱d.o.),表授予的東西。

　　例：i will give you this watch.

　　(我要送你這只表。)

　　please lend me your book.

　　(請把你的書借我。)

　　i bought him a car.

　　(我給他買了輛車。)

　　i asked him a question.

　　(我問了他一個問題。)

　　以上結構中，you,me,him均為間接賓語，this watch,your book,a car,a question均為直接賓語，然而同學們一定會問，為何要做如此分類呢?拿第一句來說吧，中譯為：“我要送你這只手表。”說這句話的人，手中一定先拿著表，然后再送給對方。故this watch先被接觸，稱為直接賓語，而you后被接觸，稱為間接賓語。

　　我們再以第四句加以說明。本句中譯成為：“我問他一個問題。”我們想一想：與“我”先接觸的是“問題”，因為“我”一張口，“問題”就借著聲音跑了出來，然后才傳達給“他”。故a question為直接賓語，而him則為間接賓語。

　　與of并用的授予動詞

　　下列動詞也可與of并用，但是與上述不同的是of之后是以表“東西”的名詞為賓語，而非以表“對象”的名詞為賓語，同學務必牢記。

　　1.rob搶奪

　　例：he robbed my money.(x)

　　----he robbed me of my money.(o)

　　(他搶了我的錢。)

　　i was robbed of my money.(o)

　　-----my money was robbed.(x)

　　(我的錢被搶了。)

　　2.deprive/strip剝奪

　　例：the regime deprived/stripped all his civil rights.(x)

　　-----the regime deprived/stripped him of all his civil rights.(o)

　　(該政權剝奪了他一切公民權。)

　　he was deprived/stripped of all his civil rights.(o)

　　-----all his civil rights were deprived/stripped.(x)

　　(他被剝奪了一切公民權。)

　　3.ease減輕

　　例：he eased me of my burden.

　　(他減輕了我的負擔。)

　　4.relieve解除

　　例：the medicine relieved him of his pain.

　　(這個藥解除了他的痛苦。)

　　5.rid解除

　　例：i cannot rid myself of the painful memory.

　　=i cannot get rid of the painful memory.

　　(我不能去除掉這段痛苦的回憶。)

　　注意

　　rid myself of中的rid是動詞原形;get rid of中的rid是過去分詞，get則等于be,即：cannot get rid of=cannot be rid of，然而get rid of已成詞組，故寫作時， 不可用be rid of取代。

　　6.break戒除

　　例：you should break/rid yourself of the bad habit of smoking.

　　(你應該戒除你抽煙的惡習。)

　　7.cure醫(yī)治

　　例：the doctor cured him of his disease.

　　(醫(yī)生治好了他的病。)
